The purpose of the article is to consider the historical conditions of the formation of the institute for protecting business reputation in the Russian legal framework.
On the basis of the sources analysis of various historical periods, the author traces the continuity in the disclosure of the main topic. Insufficient knowledge of the specifics of the formation and transformation of the institute for protecting business reputation in different eras actualize the topic of the study. The author reveals the historical features of the formation of the institute for protecting business reputation in the Russian legal framework and notes that the institutional ambivalence and general subjectivity of approaches to the concept itself.
As a result the author notes that in different historical periods contradictions and difficulties arise both at the level of law enforcement and judicial practice. For example, legal entities are unreasonably deprived of the right to protection and restoration of business reputation. Then the problem of perception of economic entities deprived of the right to restore business reputation should be considered in detail.
