The purpose of the article is to analyze the development of the Russian emperors’ security system during railway trips in 1878-1881.
The relevance of the study is determined by the need to clarify the reasons that contributed to the success of the members of the revolutionary organization “Narodnaya Volya”, who sought to kill Alexander II, as well as to specify the circumstances of the creation of a security system for Alexander III. To a certain extent,
As a result, the authors come to the conclusion that the findings of the study are valuable for the history of domestic railway transport and transport security. The work is based on unpublished materials from the collections of the Russian State Historical Archive and the Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library.
