The article is devoted to the actual specifically-historical aspects of Great Britain perception in Russia. The aim of the article is to analyze the specifics of the first world industrial exhibition perception by Russian contemporaries. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that holding the Exhibition of 1851 was a grandiose international propaganda of Britain’s success. The presented expositions demonstrated its economic, scientific and technical superiority to the world. It is also noted that the detailed coverage of this event by domestic sources consolidated the traditional industrial and scientific-technical image of Britain in public consciousness of Russians. Particular results of the research can be used in the process of studying historical and cultural disciplines, as well as for further scientific development of the stated issues.
