The purpose of the study is to analyze the historical data on the peculiarities of the Mariinsky (Red) Bridge construction in the city of Orel in the 70s of the XIX century. In the paper the analysis of the subsequent reconstructions of this structure is given on the basis of a comparative method, including the period after the Great Patriotic War. The relevance of the article is caused by modern works on the reconstruction of the bridge, currently being carried out. The given historical data allow architects and designers to take into account the architectural features of the facility, which are historical, in order to preserve them as fully as possible.
