The purpose of the article is to study the historical tradition of the Orel region in the field of demography, geography, toponymy, cultural studies, genealogy on the example of the history of the village of Fandeevo in the Orel district during the 17th – 21st centuries. The history of the village in the 18th – 19th centuries was associated with the history of a typical provincial noble family of the Krivtsovs, whose representatives left their mark on Russian state, diplomatic, political activities, culture and social life, being associated with Russian monarchs, such outstanding figures of Russian culture as writers A.S. Pushkin, N.V. Gogol, T.G. Shevchenko, artists K.P. Bryullov and A.A. Ivanov and others.
The methodology for studying the topic requires an integrated approach that covers various aspects and stages of research work. The historical and archival approach includes the analysis of archival documents, state, church and private records that may contain information about the village of Fandeevo, its population and cultural traditions. Establishing the authenticity and significance of various sources, as well as their interpretation in the context of the historical era.
The cultural and anthropological approach consists in observing cultural practices associated with holidays, customs and everyday life in the village. This may include research into folklore, music, crafts and other traditions.
Geographical analysis is based on the use of geographic information systems and clarification of the spatial distribution of the population in the village infrastructure, as well as comparison with historical maps. Comparative analysis based on an interdisciplinary approach contributes to a comprehensive assessment of the influence of the natural landscape on the development of the village, studying how the ecology of the territory is interconnected with cultural traditions.
Using the history of the village of Fandeevo in the Orel district as an example, the cultural and historical tradition of the Orel region is seen as a significant part of Central Russia. Toponymy, as an element of cultural tradition, shows the ways of forming the names of settlements – after a church, after the names of the owners, names with historical variations. The history of the village of Fandeevo in the 18th-19th centuries was tied with the history of a typical provincial noble family of the Krivtsovs, whose representatives left a mark on Russian state, diplomatic, political activities, culture and social life. Along with noble culture, the history of the village of Fandeevo also demonstrates many features of folk culture, including its manifestations during the revolutionary upheavals of the early 20th century.
